THE CHURCH OF CLIMATOLOGY - PART III

RELIGIOUS EXTREMISTS:  Selling the Impossible Dream
"For, after all, how do we know that two and two make four? Or that the force of gravity works? Or that the past is unchangeable? If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable - what then? George Orwell...1984
In the land of the Jolly Green Giants, the world can never be green enough. They keep upping the game and will not be satisfied until they reach their ultimate goal - to stop fossil fuel production altogether.  And here it comes:  The Leap Manifesto.  The very word "manifesto" sends shivers up my spine, and that's exactly what it is  - a manifesto for dictatorship. But the acronym LEAP has a more malevolent connotation, one that seems to have escaped its creators.

The name stems from a Communist Party initiative, led by Chairman Mae Zedong, to turn China from a primarily agricultural society into a socialist society through rapid industrialization and collectivization, forcing individual farmers off their land onto collective government-controlled mega-farms.  Instead, this "visionary" scheme resulted in chaos. While China's economy shrank, the government embarked on a system of coercion, terror and systematic violence that caused the deaths of an estimated 45 million people.

A GIANT LEAP BACKWARDS

The Great Leap Forward became a retrogressive giant leap backwards and the same would apply today if the chief architects of The Leap Manifesto, Avi Lewis and his equally strident wife, Naomi Klein, ever convinced anyone to leap aboard their nutty plan.  But Lewis and Klein have never met a socialist concept they'd didn't embrace or an entrepreneurial success story they didn't deride.

Under this leap of faith, we would get rid of all the capitalists - the people who create and supply jobs - only to be controlled by a pack of well-heeled socialists who know nothing about hard labour or economics, but nevertheless plan to design your future and capture your kids and your pocketbook.

Their Leap Manifesto is not merely a suggestion for environmental improvement: no they don't just wish to be heard - their document is full of demands that the world adopt their agenda.  The problem is that they know as much about economics as they do about ocean currents.

Here again, if you follow the path of the people who created this agenda, it becomes evident that this is less about protecting the environment than it was designed for political gain. The truth is that these two are not about to give up the comfy perks that they have come to enjoy - that's reserved for other people. At the National Democratic Party's leadership review in April 2016, the group hijacked the convention and succeed in ousting its leader, Thomas Mulcair, thereby paving the way for Avi Lewis, Chief Architect of the Leap campaign and his downtown cronies to take control of the party. But these two obviously have a God complex if they think they can change the climate, let alone create a master plan for humanity.
Just as The Great Leap Forward became a retrogressive giant leap backwards for China, the same would apply today if the chief architects of The Leap Manifesto, Avi Lewis and his equally strident wife, Naomi Klein, ever convinced anyone to leap onto their nutty plan.  But Lewis and Klein have never met a socialist concept they'd didn't embrace or an entrepreneurial success story they didn't deride.

The world will do what it has always done - re-invent itself  according to necessity. That means innovation coupled with industry - yes, those evil capitalists - who provide the necessary investment and the knowledge to do it. The world will not re-invent itself because of prodding from ideologists. Simply having an idea is not a solution unless it produces results. The wave of the future is to electric cars, and I imagine most people, myself included, would like to drive one, but we're not there yet. The transition will take years of innovation and technology to produce the results we want - cheaper purchase price, installation of charging stations, training for technicians and the phasing out of gasoline-powered vehicles.

And let's not forget the most important aspect - the human element: acceptance of the new technology and finding jobs for those lost or misplaced by that transition.  None of this will come easily or cheaply, because even if the vehicles themselves cost less to buy and operate, government will find a way of cashing in on our re-invention, as they have done with their involvement in every other quest to save the planet from ruin.

THE GARDEN OF EDEN

While Green proponents keep warning us about a bleak and scary future filled with green-house gasses, many of their solutions are far scarier.  Just when we thought the lunacy of The Leaf Manifesto couldn’t leap any higher, it’s about to get worse now that the Ontario government has stepped hopped onto centre stage with their proposed grandiose green energy plan for the province. https://www.ontario.ca/page/climate-change-action-plan

If you thought the Leap Manifesto read like a pie-in the sky pipe dream invented by urban elites who haven’t a clue how the real world operates, Kathleen Wynne and her band of Left-Leaning Liberals are about to take over your lives….totally.

Straight out of the Nazi handbook, she has even resorted to indoctrinating children to spread the message in a series of ads that also feature the Supreme Scaremaster of all time, David Suzuki, who, with his own agenda, once referred to human beings, who dare to inhabit this planet that he thinks he owns, as “maggots”.

Here’s a scary thought.  Since we maggots are all responsible for global warming, climate change, whatever the latest buzz word is, perhaps the most expedient thing would be to eliminate humans altogether. Now that the Liberals have passed the Assisted Suicide Bill, it paves the way for getting rid of any of us who are becoming too expensive to maintain or those that take up too much space or resources.  Sound preposterous?  Of course it is, but no more so than this Futuristic Disneyland that this government envisions.

While the Leap Manifesto can pretty well be summed up in a one page edict, the Ontario government’s grand vision of utopia unfolds over 86 pages, replete with pictures and schematics of what the future will look like in 2050, when everyone who is old enough to see through this grand scheme will probably be dead.  In the meantime, we’ll all be driving electric vehicles, or not, when driverless cars take over that portion of our lives.  Our homes will shimmer with solar panels that gather heat from the sun which will naturally shine all day because, as we all know, the globe is warming, so it stands to reason we’ll have more sunshine. With any luck we can eliminate winter all together, especially here in Ontari-scari-ario where we hate it anyway. Buildings will have underground heat pumps, which will operate efficiently 24/7, provided we don’t have a deep winter freeze that stops the pumps all together.  But, that’s not likely to happen because the government says so, not to mention rampant global warming, which should put an end to freezing temperatures altogether.  And if by some remote possibility an ice storm does occur, you mustn't blame Madam Wynne.  No that would be the fault of someone else (some other person's man-made disaster) or just another one of those climate change things that can't be explained.

All this is interspersed with a rash of statistics and computations and permutations coming at you like a huge tsunami. It’s just a peachy picture of a perfect world, with Premier Mom at its centre; never mind the fact that she’ll be gone in two years, but why let that stop her planning our future?  She knows best and if you don’t believe her, you are a denier – this from the Queen of Denial who never met a question she could answer truthfully.

At the end of an exhaustive scroll through this massive tome, two things stand out.

#1  This is the end of freedom as we know it.
#2   It’s going to cost us big time – not only a huge hit to our wallets, but in industry and jobs.

No business or industry has the money for this massive retrofitting of everything with an engine, let alone this government who is both fiscally and cerebrally bankrupt.  But that doesn’t stop them from promising every business and citizen in this province some type of rebate to help them adapt to this Brave New World. For a woman who goes on ad nauseum about her kids and grandkids, with so many things being eliminated, Premier Mom apparently has no problem with saddling their future with crippling debt.

Personally, I prefer to leave tweaking the planet in the hands of its creator and pin my hopes on mankind's ability to sort things out for ourselves, free of government interference or dictates.

Will the last person leaving Ontari-scari-ario, please remember to turn off the 10,000 hour incandescent lights?
